TAQA qualifications are accredited by City & Guilds and include training, assessment, quality and assurance.  They are suitable for people who carry out assessments and quality assurance in learning environments including Further Education or FE, Adult Learning, employer workplace learning and development and in the Third Sector. They are designed for assessors and anyone assessing and carrying out quality assurance in all occupational sectors, accredited learning, non-accredited learning (e.g. where performance or competence is being assessed but the learner is not undertaking a qualification).  These are some of our most popular learning and development programmes.

Assessor Training

Assessing Competence in the Work Environment – ACWE

Our assessor training ACWE programmes are tailor-made for our customers who want their staff to become qualified assessors rapidly and efficiently, so they can start undertaking workplace assessments when required.  We can deliver the programmes at locations and dates to suit you.

Assessors assess the demonstration of competence in a work environment using assessment methods including: observation, examining work products, oral questioning and discussion, use of witnesses, learner statements and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).  Assessors might assess workplace competence for NVQs or other qualifications, or undertake assessments for their organisation’s competence management system.

  • Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment – City & Guilds 6317-31

This award combines the theory of the principles and practices of assessment with a practical unit involving real work assessments.  Our expert trainers provide lively and informative knowledge sessions, and assessors support each candidate to complete their award.

IQA and Internal Verifier Qualifications

Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice – IQA

Internal Verifiers, Internal Quality Assurance practitioners and Internal Moderators who conduct internal quality assurance of the assessment process from within an assessment centre or organisation need to complete this award.  They typically sample assessments, monitor and advise on assessor and assessment practice.

  • Level 4 Award in Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice – City & Guilds 6317-41

This award combines the theory of assessment processes and practice with a practical unit focused on undertaking quality assurance tasks.  Our expert trainers and assessors will provide briefings on IQA and support each candidate flexibly to complete their award.

Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice – LIQA

Internal Verifiers, Internal Quality Assurance practitioners and Internal Moderators practitioners who lead the internal quality assurance process within an assessment centre or organisation can undertake this qualification.. Lead IQA has responsibility for managing the quality of the assessment process, practice and the performance of assessors.

  • Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice – City & Guilds 6317-42

This award builds on the IQA Award with a unit on leadership and management to enable Lead IQAs to plan, deploy and manage a team of assessors.  Our expert trainers and assessors can provide ‘top-up’ for staff who have already gained the IQA Award, or a deeper package for those new to the qualification.
